Mickey Guyton is ready for the Grammy Awards happening Sunday, March 14th.
Up for 'Best Country Solo Performance,' Mickey is the powerhouse voice heard behind "Black Like Me," and she is eager to use her voice for change.
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Mickey revealed that her songs, "Black Like Me" and "What Will You Tell Her," are anthems for female empowerment, and she is proudly carrying the torch.
"Another impactful song that you have had this year, "What Are You Going To Tell Her," What inspired that one, Mickey?" asks the radio host.
"Nashville. Singing country music. Being a woman inspired that song," reveals Mickey.
"Growing up and having my own experiences. Being at a Grammy after-party and seeing major artists like Billie Eilish and Hailee Steinfeld and wondering, "What exactly do they go through to be successful artists?" says Mickey.
"It's hard. It's really hard. A lot of times, we as women don't feel like we have a voice and its so important that we feel like we do. and its so important that the world support women and protect them. It's a scary world out there."
