The 9th Annual Storming of Thunder Ridge — May 20, 2018. Register or find more information HERE.
Scott Stevens spoke with Misty Vinson Spitzer and Paula Dahl from YMCA Central Virginia about the upcoming ride as well as the programs at the Y.
A note from Paula Dahl:
Storming of Thunder Ridge is Lynchburg, Virginia’s only local, fully-supported road cycling event. With the Blue Ridge Mountains as your backdrop, there’s a ride for everyone: 27, 45, 47 (The Mountain Only), 75 and 100 mile options.
The Storming of Thunder Ridge Bicycle Ride is a fund-raiser benefiting the YMCA of Central Virginia’s Annual Fund.
Unlike any other organization in the world and for more than 160 years, the YMCA of Central Virginia has embraced the ideal of strength in spirit, mind and body for people of all ages, faiths, backgrounds and income levels. No one is turned away from YMCA programs or services due to an inability to pay
This year’s ride START/FINISH is once again at the Jamerson Family YMCA. Saturday night CAMPING INSIDE our GYMNASIUM or OUTSIDE on our Soccer Fields is an option for our riders!!! (Indoor Camping has a nominal fee).
Riders can take advantage of all our amenities: shower facilities, whirlpool, and swimming pools. So bring your swimsuit!!! We do NOT have a towel service, so please bring your own towel, and a lock for your belongings. Many riders love to tailgate with their friends and have a relaxing celebration outside.
Our post-ride celebration will include lots of food with plenty of time to relax and enjoy your accomplishments with all your cycling friends.
And once again this year we will have the WHOLE Jamerson YMCA for our use only!!! Smiles!
See you on Sunday, May 20th
Paula
