The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says they have received multiple calls about a common scam.
They say people are getting calls from a person claiming to be from the IRS. The caller threatens that if you don't pay your unpaid taxes, law enforcement will get involved.
Officials say no credible business or government agency would ever ask for money like this. Any call like this is a scam and people should hang up immediately.
Police remind people to never give out personal information over the phone to an unsolicited person.
