The US National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Monday, January 15 for the Roanoke, Lynchburg and New River Valley areas.

Snowfall is expected to be 2 to 4 inches at higher elevations and one inch or less from the Roanoke and New River Valleys into the Lynchburg area.

From Chief Meteorologist George Flickinger at ABC 13 - WSET:

We have snow moving in Monday into early Tuesday.

Light snow begins Monday morning and will occasionally fall much of the day into Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Sometimes, it is a little heavier, but nothing resembling a major snowstorm.

We’ll see random stripes and blobs of snow showing up on the radar. This includes Central Virginia and parts of Southside.

Bridges will be more slippery than regular roads.

Temperatures will hover between 28 to 34.
