GATLINBURG, TN – December 19, 2024 – Gatlinburg SkyPark, the city's longest-running attraction, has launched a significant expansion featuring Clayton’s Landing, a scenic viewing area, and Smoky Mountain Smash, a new smash burger restaurant. These new additions, open to the public from December 13, offer spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains.
Nestled on the west side of the SkyBridge, Clayton's Landing provides guests with panoramic mountain vistas from the comfort of glider chairs, picnic tables, and firepits. This 10,000 square foot venue, seating over 235 guests, is perfect for families and friends to relax, enjoy delicious food and drinks, and take in the natural beauty of the Smokies. A new hiking trail system, spanning 1.5 miles, starts just steps away from the viewing deck, leading guests to an unforgettable journey with views of the peaks surrounding Gatlinburg.
Clayton’s Landing, named in honor of former general manager Clayton Watson, the father of the current general manager, offers a laid-back mountain atmosphere, complementing the introduction of Smoky Mountain Smash restaurant.
“I am deeply grateful and honored that this section of the SkyPark is dedicated to my father, Clayton, who made a significant impact on Gatlinburg during his 38-year tenure,” said Randy Watson, Gatlinburg SkyPark’s general manager. “The new expansion will be a place for future generations to come together and admire the incredible Smoky Mountain views.”
Smoky Mountain Smash, located at Clayton’s Landing, is a quick service restaurant showcasing Appalachian cuisine with unique smash burger offerings. Each burger features locally sourced meats and produce, paired with house-made signature sauces. Desserts like Momma Nette’s Apple Pie logs and Aunt Bonnie’s Back Woods brownie are named in honor of legacy employees.
Gatlinburg SkyPark invites guests to experience the new viewing area and restaurant during the holiday season, and to return in the evening for the Lights Over Gatlinburg holiday light display. For more information, visit www.gatlinburgskypark.com.
