A 4-year-old boy shot and killed himself Monday afternoon with a gun he found at a residential child care provider, which is also the home of a Stafford County Deputy Sheriff.
The Stafford deputy was not at home at the time of the shooting and the gun was not a service weapon, according to a statement released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Despite life-saving efforts by deputies, rescue personnel, and investigators, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
