Miranda Lambert Thinks Country Will Start Paying Attention To Women Again

In a new interview with “Time” magazine, Miranda Lambert talks about how country music has changed in the past few years, and the changes she sees on the horizon. 

The singer admits that in the past few years country music has “been skewed one way: a lack of women and songs with content from women’s perspectives.” “When Carrie [Underwood] and I first came on the scene, there was this whole generation of women before us,” she says. “Over the past three or four years, it has been very male-driven.”

But, Miranda thinks things are getting better. She notes, “I feel like it’s starting to shift and people are starting to pay attention to women again, which is great, because I think it should be a good balance.”

• Miranda also opens up about her love of animals, and her MuttNation animal rescue, noting that dogs are “where my heart is.” She also shares that when she lived in Oklahoma she actually fostered 38 dogs all by herself. “Now I have eight,” she says. “I think that’s pretty good.”
