SAM ADAMS SUPERCHARGED BEER ILLEGAL IN 28 STATES
Every two years, the Sam Adams beer company releases a batch called “Utopias.” It’s barrel-aged. This batch offers “subtle notes of honeyed apricot and caramel to the rich layers of flavor.” That’s all very nice.
It’s also illegal in 28 states -- because it comes in at 28% alcohol by volume.
A normal beer comes in about 5%.
Spirits like vodka, rum and tequila clock in at about 40%.
So ... Utopias is on the outside -- looking in -- in states such as Alabama, Idaho and New Hampshire -- among others.
Because, as everyone knows, beer needs to come in with about 5% with that alcohol stuff. More here: (Yahoo)
