Bad Teacher of the Year
A Florida teacher was arrested last week for allegedly striking a student in the face, just two days after she was named Florida's "Teacher of the Year."
Jacksonville teacher Caroline Melanie Lee was announced as Florida's "Teacher of the Year" last Wednesday. The school congratulated her on its Instagram page which prompted some negative comments from current and former students who had some sharp criticism for the teacher. There was one comment in particular that really upset Lee, so she called the student into her classroom on Friday where the alleged physical encounter occurred.
The female student, who is not identified, claims Lee yelled at her and then reached across a table and punched her in the face, bloodying her nose. Another student witnessed the encounter and school surveillance cameras captured the girl holding her face and walking down the hallway to the guidance office where she reported the assault. Police were notified and Lee was arrested for child abuse.

- "Teacher of the Year" nominees should be selected by the students, not school administrators.
- So does the "Teacher of the Year" runner-up now become the "Teacher of the Year?"
- Obviously she should never be allowed in the classroom again. Quite the fall from grace. She does not have the patience to be a teacher.
