WEIRD NEWS: Thief Swept Off the Road
An Indiana man was arrested after leading police on a lengthy chase, but the streets have never been cleaner.
Cops in Richmond, Indiana got a call about a man driving a stolen street sweeper in a reckless manner. Responding officers caught up to the sweeper and were led on a very lengthy low-speed chase. During the pursuit, the driver was able to swerve around spike strips which police had laid down and also came close to striking an officer. The chase finally ended when he drove the street sweeper into a river. He attempted to flee on foot but was caught by a police dog.
Police arrested 54-year-old Sammy Allen and charged him with vehicle theft, resisting law enforcement, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving. (WHIO-TV)

- Why was it so hard to stop a street sweeper driving 10 mph?
- I hope the streets are at least clean.
