Clemson Football Loss Led Fan To $150k Lottery Win
It's rare when your team losing leads to you winning, but that’s what happened to Jacob Strickland. He watched his Clemson Tigers lose to Notre Dame earlier this month, and during the game joked with his friends that “we should get lottery tickets because our luck couldn’t get any worse.” The 29-year-old bought a $3 “Quick Pick” using his phone just before the drawing.
He was right; his luck could only improve. His last-minute ticket won $50k, and with the “3X Power Play Multiplier,” he won $150k. He claimed his winnings last week, and after federal and state taxes he took home $106,516.
