99-Year-Old Woman Threated With Criminal Charges After Not Appearing For Jury Duty: 99-year-old Marion Lenko had a jury summons delivered to her long-term care facility, and then to her son-in-law in a suburb of Montreal. After she obviously failed to appear, her son-in-law received a notice that she had to appear in court at the end of the month or “procedures” will be taken against her. The son-in-law has no legal authority to respond on her behalf, and her son hasn’t responded to attempts to contact him. An attorney says the woman is “facing this fear of being fined or imprisoned” because no one filed the proper paperwork.
