Turkey Terror

Residents of Coon Rapids, Minnesota say they are under constant attack by an aggressive turkey that's been targeting them and causing damage to cars and other properties.

People say the turkey arrived in the neighborhood in November of 2021 with the rest of a flock, but when the others moved on a few weeks later, this angry bird stayed back and has made a home for itself in the neighborhood. Since then, the turkey has been terrorizing residents like Rachael Gross who told a TV reporter, "This turkey attacks me every single day. Follows me, goes up my stairs, tries to get into my house. When I leave in my car, it follows my car."

Parents in the area say their kids carry sticks when they walk to the school bus stop just in case they need to fight off the bird. Calls to the Department of Natural Resources have been unhelpful, as residents have only been advised to keep the turkey from finding food outside, and the department said that relocating the bird would only cause it to wreak havoc on another neighborhood. So for now, residents are urged to exert their dominance on the turkey and make the area less desirable for it. (WCCO-TV)

Scott's Thoughts:

  • Surely, there's got to be a hunter in the neighborhood. I could so fix this with my 12 gage.
  • Somehow this turkey has been able to live in the neighborhood for over a year and survived two Thanksgivings.  Again, these are not country people.
  • I mean if you don't want to use guns, just use your bow. (Can you tell Scott Stevens is a country boy... and a country boy can survive a wild turkey. And drinking wild turkey.)
