We’re not taking vacations … Americans are notorious for leaving vacation days unused … but according to a survey by Expedia, nearly half of Americans did not use all their vacation days last year. Why? One of the biggest reasons is that it’s hard to take time off work. 58% of respondents said their workplace is short-staffed -- which is why 61% said it’s hard to get their work covered, and 66% are worried about the workload that would await them on their return. Others said they are simply too busy with their day-to-day life to plan and take a vacation. In fact, 62% of those surveyed said they used at least one vacation day last year for personal appointments. Then there is the high cost of living right now, with 72% of respondents saying they worry about getting a good deal on travel. Despite that, the survey found that 20% said they plan to travel this year “no matter what.”
