A man in Florida got the world’s worst surprise when he went to go to the bathroom, only to find an angry iguana in his toilet bowl. John Riddle, who’s 58, says, “I walked in my bathroom and found Godzilla in my toilet.” Noting the reptile’s mood, Riddle added, “He didn’t seem at all pleased and started splashing and hissing at me.” Riddle quickly grabbed a pool cleaning net and put the iguana outside where he belonged.
What are these little guys even doing in Florida? Iguanas landed in the sunshine state in the 1960’s from Central America and the eastern Caribbean islands and the population has been increasing ever since. Meanwhile, since iguanas are strong swimmers, it’s not uncommon to have them wreak havoc on sewer systems by swimming up through the pipes and terrorizing peoples’ toilets.
