Judge Facing Punishment For Scrolling Facebook During Murder Hearing: An Oklahoma judicial ethics panel has opened an investigation into a state judge who was caught on security camera texting and scrolling Facebook during opening statements and testimony in the trial of a man charged with the beating death of his girlfriend’s son. Judge Traci Soderstrom, 50, who was reportedly overseeing her first case, was messaging for minutes at a time and even searching for and sending animated gifs. At one point, she even checked her phone while the mother of the victim gave her tearful testimony. Surveillance footage shows Soderstrom holding her phone in her lap or sometimes set it down in a drawer at her desk throughout the proceedings, which began last month in Chandler, Oklahoma, about 45 miles from Oklahoma City. At one point, the judge even moved the position of the ceiling security camera, according to a report.

Police say Daquai Anthony Jackson, 24, picked up three cakes from the bakery counter on May 28th, along with many other items from Weis Markets. However, when it came time to pay at the self-checkout, Jackson only scanned two items, totaling $12.99 instead of the $90.40 he owed. To make matters even weirder, cops say a witness told them the guy who ordered the cakes matched the description of the face photo-printed on the cakes. Authorities say this is Jackson's third offense for retail theft and that a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
