TIKTOK’S “WHAT’S YOUR KEN’S JOB?” TREND EXPLAINED

Barbie has enjoyed a lot of careers, having been everything from a pilot to a tennis player to the President of the United States. The new “Barbie” movie points out that the leading lady has had more than 200 jobs, but Ken? Apparently, his only job in Barbie Land is “Beach,” and he’s not even a lifeguard.

Now that line from the film has inspired a cute trend on TikTok where women are sharing their “Ken’s” jobs, or what they would be called if they lived in Barbie Land. The ladies of TikTok are posting videos that reveal “My Ken’s job is …” and a lot of folks are enjoying the wholesome fun, as the hashtag #kensjob has 11.4-million views.

  • “My Ken’s job is fish,” writes one TikToker. “He thinks he’s really good at fish. He comes with waders, a mullet and his own fly rod.”
  • Another user shares that her Ken’s job is Office. “He’s very proud of his work,” she writes. “He came with a suit and Microsoft Excel.”
  • “My Ken’s job is bike,” shares another. “He doesn’t care about fashion any other time, but he has all these cute outfits for bike and gets so excited when he thinks he looks good doing bike.”
  • Another woman says her Ken’s job is Date. “He’s very good at weddings,” she writes. “He came with a suit, jokes to tell other Kens and three signature dance moves.”
  • “My Ken’s job is Drive,” shares another TikToker. “He comes with his own car and keys. Sometimes he even wears sunglasses.”
  • And one single woman puts her own spin on the trend. “Everyone out there showing off their Kens,” she writes in a clip. “My Ken seems to still be in the factory or probably still being pitched as an idea.”

  • This trend does make men and their work and hobbies seem more interesting and fun!
  • My Ken job is "radio." Ok maybe FISH?
  • I think Ken would describe my job as "Talk." Yeah as in too much sometimes. Sorry.
