SCN: Guy Calls Cops Over Missing Kid, Forgot He Left Them At Home

Guy Calls Cops Over Missing Kid, Forgot He Left Them At Home: A dad in Connecticut who reported his child missing after running to the grocery store was arrested Monday after cops found he was intoxicated and had in fact left the child at home. Colby Parker, 30, had called the police saying he’d left the child in the car while he had run into the store but discovered they were gone when he came back. Upon hearing this, Connecticut State Police Troopers, supermarket staff, and local police departments all kicked it into high gear to help find the missing kid. Eventually, police found the child safe at home while discovering the dad had made an earlier trip to the store with his child, and a second trip later without them. Parker was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Risk of Injury to a Child, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, and Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree.

Off-Duty Pilot Who Tried To Shut Off Plane Engines May Have Been On Mushrooms: By now you probably have heard the story of the off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot who’s been accused of trying to shut off the engines on a plane midflight, and even open an emergency door. Well he may have been under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms. When police interviewed Joseph Emerson, 44, after the plane was diverted to Portland Sunday, he told cops he thought he was having a "nervous breakdown" and added that hadn’t slept in 40 hours. Though Emerson initially denied taking anything, he reportedly ended up telling an officer it was his first time taking mushrooms. Meanwhile, another affidavit filed two days later specified Emerson had confessed to taking the drugs 48 hours before the incident on the plane. A spokesperson for Alaska Airlines says Emerson had been riding in the cockpit jumpseat on a flight from Everett, Washington to San Francisco when he tried to shut down the engines. Emerson was subdued and was arrested as soon as the diverted flight landed at Portland International Airport.
