If you’re going to be stranded someplace, you could do far worse than Jamaica. On Saturday, Lane Nelson and five members of her family were set to fly back to Denver from Jamaica…until the pilot came out and announced that the Boeing 737 Max 9 jet they were supposed to fly on was “grounded.” This, after an Alaska Airlines jet had to make an emergency landing after a window blew out mid-flight on Friday. The next flight United can offer them off the island is going to be one week after their original departure date, which will give them 17 days in Jamaica instead of ten, which Nelson says is “a little much”…but making arrangements for the six of them on another airline would’ve run them upwards of $4K, and 20 hours of flight time when layovers are factored in. United has offered to compensate the family for the extra hotel stays and other expenses.
