Customs officials at the airport in Bangkok, Thailand arrested six men who tried to smuggle a menagerie of live exotic animals in their luggage, including an endangered red panda.
The suspects, all from India, had checked their luggage and tried to board a flight to Mumbai. But security examined their checked luggage and discovered a total of 87 animals inside. These included 29 monitor lizards, 21 snakes, 15 birds, the aforementioned red panda, and some others.Â
Thailand is known as a major smuggling hub in Asia, so authorities are always on the lookout for suspicious luggage. All six suspects were arrested and are each facing up to 10 years in jail. (Fox News)
