This is another one of those things that feels it should’ve happened long before now. In Tennessee, Representative Darren Jernigan has introduced HB2041, and Senator Jeff Yarbro has introduced SB1917, both of which would…among other things…make marriage between first cousins illegal. The first cousins of both politicians couldn’t be reached for comment.

Speaking of marrying your cousin...
*It's all relative ... A married couple in Colorado decided they wanted to know more about their own ancestry, so they swabbed their cheeks and sent it to MyHeritage to test their DNA. They're probably wishing they hadn't done that. Joseph and Celina Quinones have been married since 2006. 10 years and three kids into their marriage, they learned from their DNA test that they're actually cousins. It's unclear how closely related they are, but the results show they could be second cousins.
This was more than six years ago, but Celina recently shared their story on TikTok in a video that's gone viral. She says, "I was in shock. I was a little depressed over it, to be honest. But this was after we already had three kids, and all of them were healthy." She admits at first, she wondered if they should divorce but ultimately decided, "I'm not going to let some blood come between us."
