For as long as there’ve been tattoos, there’s been “tattoo regret.” For some people, what seemed cool in their 20s doesn’t exactly hold up in the same way or hold the same meaning in their 30s and 40s. For the Gen Z crowd, “tattoo regret” is becoming a thing, and it might be more substantial…and some think social media might be part of the reason. Tattoos based on social media trends five years ago don’t end up having the same meaning five years later, and then they realize that “what was attractive at the time” isn’t so much later on down the road. Often, it’s not a case of regretting getting a tattoo as much as sticking with “one particular style” or “such a high volume in such a short time” that causes regret.
