A Man Ate 700 Eggs In One Month

Eggs have long been debated as a superfood or a health risk due to their cholesterol content. To find out the truth, Nick Norwitz, a PhD student at Harvard, conducted an experiment where he ate 720 eggs in a month — about 24 eggs a day. Contrary to popular belief, his LDL or "bad" cholesterol levels dropped by 18%, despite consuming 133,200 mg of cholesterol over the month.

Norwitz followed a keto diet alongside his egg experiment, eating foods like meat, fish, nuts, and cheese, while also maintaining a weekly exercise routine. He stated, "Even though my dietary intake of cholesterol more than quintupled, my bad cholesterol actually dropped." His findings suggest that dietary cholesterol from eggs may not directly raise LDL cholesterol as previously thought.

Some scientists believe this could be due to how cholesterol is processed in the gut and liver. In Norwitz's case, the high egg consumption did not result in increased cholesterol, challenging the idea that eggs are harmful to heart health.
