Hangover sandwich … A lot of parties and celebrations happen during the holidays, which means … hangovers. In fact, a survey found the average adult will spend three days hungover in the month of December.
Well, you can add this to the list of hangover cures. A doctor and TV personality in England, Dr. Zoe Williams, has come up with a hangover sandwich. Here’s the recipe:
- Bread: Half wholegrain, half white for a perfect fiber and protein mix.
- Filling: Eggs (any style), bacon (or a veggie alternative), and avocado.
Why this combo? Eggs are packed with B12 and cysteine to help detoxify your liver, avocado is loaded with potassium to balance electrolytes, and bacon's saltiness helps replenish lost salts.
Dr. Williams suggests washing it down with water or black tea for the best results. Can’t hurt … and sounds pretty good!
Speaking of drinking …
Wine in moderation is good for your heart … A new study published in the European Heart Journal found that drinking a half to one glass of wine daily can slash your risk of heart attack, stroke, or heart disease by a whopping 50%. Even if you drink a bit less, like one glass a week, you still get a 38% reduction in heart risk, according to the research. But there’s a caveat: more than one glass a day, and the benefits vanish. So, moderation is key.
