A Clutter-Free Home Could Be The Key To A Successful Year!

Is the key to success in 2025 having a clean home? Two-thirds (66%) of Americans think so, according to a new survey. It finds that seven in 10 people believe starting the New Year with a clutter-free home is crucial for a successful future.

The poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults looks at the connection between the “new year, clean home” mindset and finds:

  • Having a clean and organized home sets the tone for the whole year, according to 83% of respondents.
  • More than half (56%) admit they’re superstitious about this, thinking that if they start the year with a clean home, they’ll have a good year.
  • Three-quarters of those surveyed are determined to keep their home cleaner than ever before in 2025.
  • But even those focused on cleaning up know it’s short-lived, as that “New Year freshness” only lasts 38 days, on average. And 59% say it lasts even less.
  • To help keep the clutter at bay, 61% plan to do a big deep clean at home this month, estimating it will take an average of 20 hours to tackle.
  • Getting started can be the hardest part, with the average respondent saying they’re more likely to stick to it after a cleaning streak of four weeks in a row.
  • For 83%, a clean home helps them feel more motivated to finish their to-do list, but messy homes can have the opposite effect, leaving folks feeling overwhelmed (42%), irritable (37%) and unfocused (34%).
  • Decluttering is so satisfying for some, they find it even better than sleeping in on a day off (17%), winning an argument (17%) or finding the perfect parking spot (16%).

Scott's Thoughts:

  • Do any of these people who find decluttering so satisfying want to come work on my house?
  • I go through cycles of clean/clutter/clean.
  • My workspace has to be organized. Not my home life.
