Weâve all heard how important it is to use a secure password, but it turns out, most of us donât listen or donât care. And new research suggests your password is probably easier to hack than you realize. A new report from software company anyIP reveals the most commonly used passwords that can be easily hacked.
- To come up with the list, anyIP used NordPass list of the 200 worst passwords worldwide, then analyzed how often specific passwords were used in hacking attempts.
- Overall, âpasswordâ is the most commonly used password in the world, making it the most hackable.
- Next up is âqwerty123,â followed by âqwerty1â on the global list.
- The list of passwords most at risk of being hacked here in the U.S. is a little different, with âsecretâ landing at number one and taking less than one second to crack.
âHackers are increasingly using sophisticated tools to breach accounts in seconds, and relying on weak passwords is akin to leaving your front door unlocked,â explains anyIP co-founder Khaled Bentoumi. âThese findings highlight the alarming prevalence of predictable and easily hackable passwords.â

Scott's Thoughts:
- If your password is on this list, itâs probably time to change it!
- Wonder if "Catballs 24-7" is still a good password?
- I feel like you would have to be a real dummy to use these.
