Cold car catastrophe ... As a large swath of the country descends into a deep freeze, drivers are being urged to take certain items out of their vehicles, or risk destroying them. We keep all sorts of things in our car, but here are six items you should never leave inside a frozen vehicle:
- Aerosol cans can explode when they freeze.
- Canned foods and beverages can crack or break.
- The USDA says you should never leave eggs in a car when its freezing outside because they may crack, and must then be thrown out.
- Electronics left in a frozen car may cease to function.
- Medications left in freezing temperature should be replaced as they may no longer be effective.
- Children and pets. Just as you should never leave them in a hot car, the same thing goes for a frigid car.
