A new survey finds that people aren’t saving for a rainy day – because they’re dealing with a storm right now. The survey found that 67% of Americans say they’re behind on their savings goals, and 47% have completely given up hope that they’ll be able to save any money. Since January of this year, 63% of people with savings accounts have withdrawn money, primarily for unexpected expenses (48%), everyday necessities (36%). emergencies (30%), and house payments like rent or mortgages (23%). 19% have made five or more withdrawals since the beginning of the year.
