It was an unequal battle of the elders in Florida. An 88-year-old woman from Clearwater, Florida, is facing felony charges after allegedly hitting a 77-year-old woman on a mobility scooter with her SUV in a Sam’s Club parking lot and then driving off. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on April 24th. The victim was thrown from her scooter and hospitalized for her injuries. The driver, Carolyn Siegrist, was arrested four hours later and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury. Siegrist pleaded guilty to careless driving in 2023, and was fined $166.

The suspect, Jordélia Pereira Barbosa, allegedly disguised herself and delivered the tainted treats to new girlfriend Miriam Lira's home in Imperatriz, accompanied by a note reading, “With love, to Mirian Lira. Happy Easter.” While Lira survived after spending days in a coma, her two children didn’t. Barbosa was arrested around 240 miles away while getting off a bus. She denies poisoning them, despite having been caught on security camera footage buying them while wearing a disguise.
