In life, there aren’t a whole lot of experiences more draining and slimy than that of buying a used car. One used car salesperson says that’s by design. On TikTok, @ashxautos says offering test drives is how salespeople try to get potential buyers to “fall in love” and develop an attachment to a car. Ash says the entire process is designed to get you to wait around for hours and eventually make a deal so you can just get on with it and get out of the store. Those responding say they’d never buy a car without driving it first, with one pointing out that you just have to be prepared and willing to walk away when you know it’s not a fit…rather than get talked into a car you really don’t want.
