Last Thursday, the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue team was in the middle of a training exercise when a report came in concerning a man yelling for help. 911 operators say two hikers reported hearing “repeated cries” coming from a man near a popular hiking spot in British Columbia. The rescue team split into two groups, and the search was on…until it wasn’t. It turns out the screaming man was really a solo camper who was belting out his favorite hits from Nickelback for the trees, animals, and anyone else to hear. The search and rescue team thanked the hikers for calling in what could’ve been a serious situation and recommended singing lessons for the camper.
