Feel like you’re just going through the motions every day? It’s because you are. A new global study found that 90% of our daily actions happen automatically, without us really thinking about them. From brushing your teeth to making coffee to your daily commute, most of what we do is driven by habit rather than a conscious thought. Another 65% of our daily activity is triggered by environmental cues – like grabbing your phone when it buzzes. One exception? Exercise. People tend to start workouts out of habit, but once they’re moving, they need to stay mentally engaged to keep going.
