Families Eat Through Their Halloween Candy Twice Before The Big Day

A survey of 2,000 adults found the average American eats through their Halloween candy stash twice before kids even show up at the door. One in four people had to restock three times or more. About a third identify as early planners who stock up and decorate by October 1, while nearly as many wait until the last minute. More than half still find themselves rushing out to buy candy at the last minute, and 43 percent of people who dress up need finishing touches or makeup in the final days. Eating through the candy isn’t surprising, since nearly two-thirds of Americans consider themselves Halloween people, with Gen Z and millennials leading the way.
