Just because something feels totally normal at this moment doesn’t mean it will in the future. Trends, habits and products can be perfectly fine one day, then look strange or troubling a short time later, like letting kids ride in cars without seatbelts or car seats, or smoking literally everywhere, like people did back in the day.
A Reddit post is calling these out by asking, “What’s popular right now that won’t age well?” More than 6-thousand responses have come in so far and these are some of the best and most repeated comments.
- "Putting touchscreens and smart technology into everything, even if it doesn’t need smart technology. Looking at those smart fridges, smart ovens, and smart toasters."
- "Over-filtered 'perfect' social media faces. We’re gonna look back like… why did we all do that?”
- "Being sh*tty on camera for social media views."
- "This is probably wishful thinking, but private equity firms."
- "Being an influencer. It's over-saturated at this point."
- "Overconsumption."
- “Touchscreens in vehicles! I want to keep my eyes on the road and just feel for the correct button/dial to change the heat, music, or whatever."
- "The manosphere. The men desperate to be alphas are the ones furthest from it — illogical, submissive, and overly emotional.”
- "Putting AI into every single product."
- "Buccal fat surgery, removal of fat on the jawline. As you age, you will look older. Don't do it."
- “Child influencers on TikTok”
- "Subscriptions for everything and anything under the sun. Not just streaming."
- “Broccoli head haircuts”
- And finally, "I have a feeling that social media is going to be the 'we didn’t realize cigarettes cause cancer' of our generation."

Scott's Thoughts:
- Fingers crossed all these go out of style, just like the extremely unnatural laminated eyebrows!
- I wish social media influencers would disappear but I doubt we will be that lucky!
- Broccoli head haircuts? Is that really still a thing?
