*LIST* The Best Cities For Keeping New Year’s Resolutions

Millions of people across the country made New Year’s resolutions this year, but the reality is that most folks will give up on them in a few weeks, if not sooner. There are all kinds of resolutions and reasons people don’t stick to them, but it turns out, there’s one unexpected factor that can make a difference in how likely you are to reach those goals - where you live.

  • WalletHub has just come out with their annual list of the Best Cities for Keeping New Year’s Resolutions.
  • They compared 182 U.S. cities on 57 factors related to self-improvement in five main categories of resolutions: Health, Financial, School & Work, Bad Habits, and Relationship.
  • Cities were rated on everything from fitness centers per capita to homeownership rate to job opportunities, median credit card debt and “singles-friendliness.”
  • Based on all that, this year’s best city for sticking to your resolutions is Seattle, Washington.
  • It’s especially good for those related to physical well-being, as it has the lowest percentage of physically inactive adults and the sixth-lowest obesity rate in the country.
  • Seattle is also good for financial resolutions since residents have low levels of debt relative to their income and they have the fourth-best median credit scores nationwide.
  • Scottsdale, Arizona, comes in second, getting high scores for opportunities for physical activity and career growth.
  • At the bottom of the list is Jackson, Mississippi, making it the worst city for sticking to resolutions, followed by Gulfport, Mississippi, and Shreveport, Louisiana.

Scott's Thoughts:

  • That doesn’t mean everyone who doesn’t live in one of these should just give up now!
  • I quit making those resolutions years ago. Instead, I try to live a better life overall.
  • I DID get back in the gym recently.
