French Government Telling 29-Year-Olds Telling Them To Have Babies

Sacrebleu! France is running out of babies!

If there’s one thing everyone wants from the government, it’s instructions on when to have unprotected intercourse. France is planning to send a letter to every citizen when they turn 29, encouraging them to think about having children before it's too late. The move is part of a 16-point fertility plan from Health Minister Stephanie Rist, aimed at tackling the country's declining birth rate.

In 2025, France recorded more deaths than births for the first time since World War II, and the fertility rate has dropped to 1.56 children per woman, the lowest since 1918. The letter will cover contraception, sexual health, and the biological clock, and will remind people that egg freezing is free for women aged 29 to 37. The government says the goal is to inform, not pressure, but critics say things like longer maternity leave would be more effective.

Speaking of having babies... Tourist Thought She Had A Stomach Bug, Went To Hospital And Delivered An Unexpected Baby Instead!

21-year-old British student Hattie Sheppard had no idea she was pregnant until she unexpectedly gave birth while on vacation in Australia's Gold Coast. The size-six university student had spent the previous months partying, drinking, jumping off boats, and even riding a 100mph slingshot theme park ride with her boyfriend Bailey…all the activities a doctor would warn you not to do if you’re expecting.

On January 13, she developed stomach pains she assumed were a stomach bug and took some paracetamol. When the pain moved to the right side and became agonizing, she suspected appendicitis. But an ultrasound at Gold Coast University Hospital revealed she was actually in labor. She gave birth to a daughter, Isla-Grace, on January 14, weighing 6 pounds 7 ounces. Doctors later explained that her placenta was positioned at the front of her stomach, which prevented her from feeling any of the baby's movements throughout the pregnancy.
