Feel like you see Frenchies everywhere these days? Americans love French bulldogs, so much so that they’re the most popular dog breed in the country once again. The American Kennel Club (AKC) just released their list of the top breeds and Frenchies held onto the top spot for the fourth year running.
The AKC is the world’s largest registry of purebred dogs and every year, they use their registration statistics to rank the most popular breeds of the last year.
- While the adorable, playful French bulldogs continue their reign as the favorite, there were some shake-ups with the list this year.
- Dachshunds moved up a spot, from sixth to fifth, pushing the poodle down to number six.
- The German shorthaired pointer traded places with the bulldog, moving from tenth to ninth.
- Breeds climbing in popularity include the wirehaired vizsla, up 29 spots from 159 to 130, and the American hairless terrier, rising 17 spots from 125 to 108.
- The cane corso moved up from 14th to 11th, border collies jumped four spots from 30 to 26, and the Pomeranian rose three spots to 19th from 22nd.
- But some breeds are moving down on the list, including greyhounds, which had the biggest drop, down 33 spots from 118 last year to 151.
- Pugs and collies held onto their places at 38 and 39, Boston terriers remain at number 23, and basset hounds are still 34th.

Scott's Thoughts:
- Sure, French bulldogs are adorable, if you can get past all the snoring and farting!
- I love all dogs, but don't own one. Don't really have the lifestyle needed to own one.
- Wish their lifespans could be longer.
