Tiny Cocktails Are Now The Big New Trend At Bars

Small pours are in big demand as Americans cut back on drinking for their health and finances. According to restaurant reservation platform Resy, the “tiny tini” trend is becoming more popular, as hot spots like Pastis in New York City, The Fox Bar in Nashville, and Jojo’s Beloved in Atlanta are all serving scaled-down cocktails.

While not having to pay $25 for a standard drink in big cities is part of it, industry experts say there are several factors for the shift toward smaller cocktails, including alcohol moderation, weight-loss goals and budget concerns. And more people are trying to limit themselves when it comes to booze, with a recent report showing nearly half of Americans say they plan to cut back on alcohol. GLP-1 drugs are also reducing people’s appetite for alcohol, adding to the trend.

Some folks are giving up drinking altogether, but others are really just being intentional about drinking less, and that’s part of why the mini cocktails are having a moment. Cocktail flights are becoming more popular, as they give people a variety of options to sample. Bars and restaurants like Lele’s Roman in Brooklyn, which offers “baby negroni” pours and a trio flight, are turning cocktails into a tasting-style experience, which seem to be what more customers are looking for now.

Scott's Thoughts:

  • A smaller bar tab and cute little cocktails? You do you!
  • I want bigger drinks, not smaller!!
  • The only thing better than a little beer, is a big beer to go with it!
