Spirit Airlines shut down operations early Saturday, leaving thousands of passengers stranded after all flights were cancelled. In a statement on social media, Spirit shared that it wouldn’t be able to help rebook passengers on other airlines, but offered refunds for those who bought tickets on their website with a credit or debit card.

Fortunately, other airlines are stepping in to help Spirit’s passengers get home. "Following conversations with the Department of Transportation, America Airlines, United, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, Allegiant, Frontier, Avelo, and Breeze have all agreed to support impacted Spirit passengers in different ways," a DOT statement explains.

Here’s what other carriers are doing to help Spirit customers who need to rebook cancelled flights:

Allegiant Air - They’ve committed to freezing fare prices on routes that overlap with Spirit.
American Airlines - They reduced fares on routes that overlap with Spirit Airlines and are looking to add more rescue flights. "We immediately put rescue fares into place on Spirit routes where American also offers nonstop service. American serves 70 of the 72 airports Spirit presently serves, and 67 of the specific routes Spirit currently operates," the airline's website says. "We are also reviewing opportunities to add additional capacity — including utilizing larger aircraft and adding flights on critical routes — to support as many affected passengers as possible."
Avelo - The airline is encouraging affected customers to use a promotion that offers 75% off base fares on select flights with the promo code TRYAVELO and they’re offering a status match for Spirit frequent flyers, according to their website.
Delta Air Lines - They’re selling reduced rescue fares for five days in U.S. markets where Spirit operated and on Latin American routes where the two airlines competed.
Frontier Airlines - After competing with Spirit on more than 100 routes, the airline is offering up to 50% off base fares across its network on select flights purchased by May 10th with the promo code SAVENOW.
JetBlue - They’re offering $99 one-way fares on routes where they competed with Spirit for travelers who can prove they had a cancelled Spirit ticket though May 6th. Details can be found on JetBlue’s website.
Southwest Airlines - Capped one-way fares can be purchased at ticket counters with proof of a cancelled Spirit Airlines ticket through May 6th on routes where Southwest competed with Spirit.
United Airlines - They’re capping one-way fares on routes where they competed with Spirit Airlines if customers can provide their Spirit confirmation number and proof of flight confirmation. United’s website has more information.
